I think I’m a little late to the game on this one… it was covered by DailyCandy before I left on vacay. But, the new blog, “Stuff White People Like,” covered my dearly departed fave show, “The Wire,” this week. Their full list includes topics such as art degrees, Sarah Silverman, kitchen gadgets, Manhattan (whoop!), expensive sandwiches and another 80-some-odd topics.
Man.

the bar formerly known as brady’s. i noticed this as i was walking home yesterday – how clever! i wonder if they’ll rename the bar permanently should the giants win today!

This Saturday, some of Jenny’s besties hosted a very fancy Baby Shower for her at the ultra cool private rooftop club at the Gramercy Park Hotel.
Several JLo pals were in attendance including crazy Scientologist Leah Remini, rad designer Roberto Cavalli and the super classy and beautiful Diane Sawyer. Word on the street is that she’s having twins, a boy and a girl, but there is no official confirmation on that topic. Other word is that there was a sweet Swarovski crystal encrusted pacifier in the gift bags, but again, no confirmation on that topic either. JLo was looking hot in her baby doll coat with a doting Marc Anthony on hand to walk her into the party. She’s due in “a few weeks” – can’t wait to see the little nuggets. Will they have big bootie like their momma? Wait and see.

The folks at IAYM are big fans of 30 Rock. In fact, we even have our own bizzaro Liz Lemon on our “staff.” If only we had a real life Jack Donaghy in our lives.
So, when we saw “Somebody to Love,”the episode that includes the blatant Verizon Wireless commercial during a Liz/Jack scene, we had to rewind our DVRs to confirm what we’d just seen. It was funnier the second time.
Hollywood Reporter has a story on the integration of ads into the writing of shows. In the age of TiVo, it’s certainly a smart tactic — if you can pull it off like the 30 Rock writers (remember the Snapple plug in season one?).
Rossi declined to disclose how much Verizon paid for the “30 Rock” integration but said that in addition to fees, it provided marketing support for the show with a co-branded ad in Maxim magazine and promotional content on VerizonWireless.com. “We want an integration to be as organic and natural to a show as it can be,” he said. “Certainly with the ’30 Rock’ humor and writing, this type of integration just works well for them and for Verizon Wireless as well.” NBC declined comment on the financial terms of the deal.
